Hey Everyone! Hope your new year is off to a great start. Can you believe January is almost over? I wanted to pop in to share with you how my journey to post baby best is going this time around. (If you missed my 6 week update you can read it here.)
By the way, I am also on my dear friend Jessica’s podcast today talking about getting my body back post baby! Check it out
Capri will be 4 months old a week from today and she’s just the sweetest! We love her little easy going personality. She just smiles and laughs at whoever will look at her. And big sister Sienna is doing just awesome! She is Capri’s favorite entertainment and I love seeing their bond as sisters begin to form.
I am continuing to make progress towards finding my post baby best, here’s where I am at.
Pre-pregnancy: 125 pounds
End of pregnancy: 150 pounds

Pilates – I love how pilates helps you rebuild your core strength. There is a studio called Core 40 near my house that offers 40 minutes classes on the pilates reformer machine and they are killer! I haven’t been able to go as often as I’d like, but I love it when I can.
I think the majority of my results over the past few months has been due to eating well. Since Capri’s tummy has been so sensitive, I have been cutting out gluten, dairy, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, eggs, and caffeine. It made it a lot easier to resist the sweets that were around during the holidays with these restrictions. So I know a major reason the weight is coming off is because of eating this way.
It has forced me to eat more whole foods instead of reaching for a pre-packaged snack (almost all of which have gluten). I am learning a lot of new recipes lately and embracing the challenge of eating with these restrictions. It gives me appreciation for those who eat this way all the time.
The toughest part is when we eat out because there are often very few items that qualify and gluten in particular is snuck into so many foods. But I have found some cool new places around town including the cafe at Trilogy Sanctuary where all the food is gluten free, vegan, and organic. Sienna and I shared a delicious acai bowl while watching an aerial yoga class and peek views of the ocean. I’m definitely adding aerial yoga to my bucket list!
I plan to keep up what I have been doing on the eating front and making sure it includes enough healthy fats (nuts, avocados, fish) to keep my milk supply up!
My goal going forward is to rebuild my strength. It’s amazing how fast you loose it and my workouts lately have lacked the intensity needed to rebuild it. I am going to shift my focus to strength based Tailored Fitness videos. I want to focus on one body part for each workout to really fatigue that set of muscles and get stronger. A simple way to do this is to search by area of focus and just choose an arm video one day, a leg video the next, and a core video the third day. I also want to make it to Pilates classes more often. I enjoy learning from other instructors and the fun of a group atmosphere helps me push myself past my comfort zone.
As always, thanks for supporting me on this journey! I’d love to hear what you ladies are up to for your workouts these days? What are you loving lately? Drop me an email or comment below!
